MARCH 24th; LORD'S Day (Sunday); 2024.
THIS WEEK'S PSALM. “Be Still My Soul” by Mrs. Katharina Schlegel (1697-1768). Mrs. Schlegel wrote this Psalm in 1752. The Words are largely based on Psalm 46. This Psalm was the favorite of Mr. Eric Liddell, the athlete who became famous in the 1924 Olympics for refusing to run on Sunday. How different are the “Christian” athletes today!
THIS WEEK'S THANKSGIVING. I Timothy 2.1 says: “First of all, giving of thanks.” 1. In two Care Facilities, it is a pleasure seeing more Residents recovering from colds, viruses, etc. The Church Services in these places were well attended. 2. Among all the Care Facilities last week, THE LORD was Gracious in drawing near to the Assemblies and blessing the Preaching of the Scripture. There was a sweet quietness. Many heard the Sermons clear through. Some specially spoke of the Sermons afterward. THE LORD do a great Work of Grace among these precious souls! Exodus 16.4 says: “Then said the Lord, Behold, I will rain Bread from Heaven for you.”
THIS WEEK'S PRAYERLIST. These Prayer Requests have been made in part by different Residents
and Staff in the Care Facilities. 1. One Lady requests Prayer regarding her eyes. She has important, upcoming appointments. 2. Those who are still sick. 3. Those in the hospital. 4. Some request Prayer for their Friends and Families. It is refreshing to see not a few concerned for their fellow Residents. 5. A Gentleman who does not have a way to his physician appointments. Exodus 16.16 says: “This is the thing which the Lord hath commanded.” Verse 23 says: “And Moses said unto them, This is that which the Lord hath said.” *In the Thanksgiving and Prayerlist sections, the names of the people have been withheld to protect their privacy. Nevertheless, the Thanksgivings and Prayer Requests are real and actual.
THIS WEEK'S COLPORTAGE REPORT. 1. Last week, besides Dr. Spence's visits in his weekly Care Facilities, on one of his days off, he conducted a Colportage Day among Care Facilities he does not visit. For about 6 hours and 147 miles, 6 Letters and 79 Printed Sermons were distributed in 1 Hospital, 1 Gas Station, and 9 Care Facilities located in Wheeling, West Virginia and Bridgeport and St. Clairsville, Ohio. Some Notes on the day— First: Although it rained in the beginning, as the day went on, everything turned to sunny skies. Second: It was initially planned for this day to attend to the Colportage Work in Uniontown and Fairchance. But just before going out, strong thoughts of West Virginia came to mind. Therefore Wheeling started this Colportage. Third: Aides and Receptionists cheerfully received the Printed Sermons. Fourth: In one Care Facility, there was a lockdown. “Covid” was supposed to be in the building. But the masks were not enforced. Even here the Printed Sermons were cheerfully received. And now may THE LORD do His Own Work and bless the Printed Sermons to those who read! 2. Would you read a King James Version Bible or New Testament? We also have the Book of Psalms in Braille. These dear Books are gently used. They come in different sizes. Many Residents have left these Books for Dr. Spence during the past years. If you or someone you know would use one or two of these Books, please contact us. The Books and postage are free.
